In 2025 I was honored to become an artist-in-residence with the sculptor Cristina Cordova.
Cristina Cordova’s studio is in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, near Penland School of Craft.
My time with Cristina centered on two self-determined areas of development in ceramic sculpture; scale and surface.
She supported my goal of working at larger scale with both guidance and the use of her incredibly equipped studio, including large kilns, a sand blaster, and spray booth.
She supported my exploration of surface color and texture with access to her disciplined practice and archive of glaze techniques and formulas.
Thanks to Cristina’s generosity with her time, knowledge and incredible studio resources, my residency was an intensive period of learning and growth alongside a true master.
